We're incredibly excited to share our new ebook, "Introduction to Tabletop RPGs", with the Itch.io community! We've poured a lot of passion into this project, and we wanted to take a moment to share the story behind its creation—a journey that started in one language and grew to embrace a global community.

It All Started in Portuguese 🇧🇷

Like many of you, we have friends we’ve always wanted to bring into the TTRPG hobby. We’d talk about our epic campaigns, our beloved characters, and the unforgettable moments around the table, only to be met with a mix of curiosity and confusion. The biggest hurdle was always the same: "It seems too complicated to start."

We wanted to solve that.

So, the first version of this guide was born as "Introdução ao RPG de Mesa." It was a passion project for our local community here in Brazil. The goal was simple: create a guide that was friendly, beautiful, and completely beginner-focused. We wanted to make something you could send to a friend and say, "Read this, and you'll be ready for our next game." We focused on clear language, helpful visuals, and a structure that takes the reader by the hand from "What is an RPG?" all the way to creating their first character.

Going Global: Crafting the English Version 🇬🇧🇺🇸

After finishing the Portuguese version, we were proud of what we had created. But we also knew that the desire to learn RPGs is universal. To share our work with the wider community, especially here on a global platform like Itch.io, an English version wasn't just an option—it was essential.

But creating the English version was more than a simple translation.

Anyone who speaks more than one language knows that translation is an art. It’s not just about converting words; it’s about converting the feeling, the tone, and the cultural context. Terms like "Mestre de Jogo" have a direct equivalent in "Game Master," but the friendly, encouraging voice of the guide had to be carefully re-crafted for a new audience.

We spent weeks ensuring every sentence in the English version felt just as natural and welcoming as the original. We wanted it to feel like it was written for you, not just translated for you.

Why Two Languages Matter to Us

Our goal with Dirgefall Studio is to create immersive worlds and bring people together through games. Tabletop RPGs are one of the most powerful tools for doing that. By offering this guide in both English and Portuguese, we hope to lower the barrier to entry for as many new players as possible, no matter where they are or what language they speak.

The hobby is about shared stories, and we believe everyone deserves a chance to be part of the narrative.
